About Me

Hi! I'm Krista. Welcome to my little corner of the web.

I'm a mom to Gia, who is three and my husband and I just welcomed our second baby, Nicholas, in October!

But, I'm not only a mom. I'm a lot of other things too --- a wife, a teacher, a daughter, a friend, a writer, and a bibliophile.  Mainly, though, I'm your average mom. I cook (well), I clean (not often enough), I work part time (teaching developmental English at a local college), I write (here and for a website called Daily Mom) and I do mommy things (kiddie gym classes, bath time, reading books, playing with toddler toys).

This blog is dedicated to my life as a typical mommy. Not the one you'd see on Bravo, who drives a Range Rover, has 3 nannies and who's always Red Carpet ready. I'm the regular kind who wears jeans and t-shirts and tries to do it all herself, in the very best way she knows how. My specialty? I love making the mundane fancy or special. I make a big deal out of things because, ya know what, life is a big deal. We only get to do this once and I want to do it the best and most fun way I can.

That didn't tell you enough? Here are 25 random things about me.

1. I'm a huge fan of Britney Spears.
2. I do not enjoy getting wet. I don't like pools, the ocean, and I really only shower bc I have to, not because I enjoy the hot water.
3.  My dream car is the Mercedes G in white.
4. I went to NYU for undergrad and graduate school.
5. I am an only child.
6. I love tv and could watch it all day long and not get bored.
7. I used to put my make up on in the car, while driving. Since I've had kids I've stopped that fabulous habit. Now I put it on in the parking lot, sitting outside of wherever I'm going.
8. I was 3 blocks away from the World Trade Center when the planes crashed on 9/11. I saw the buildings fall right in front of my eyes, while simultaneously watching it on tv. That was the scariest day of my life.
9. I bite the inside of my cheek when I'm stressed.
10. I'm a total cookie monster. I do love me some cupcakes, but when it comes down to it, I cannot resist cookies (especially homemade). They're just so easy to grab and pop in your mouth!
11. I love to cook and bake. Cooking dinner every night is not a chore to me.
12. I love coffee but can't stomach it when I'm pregnant.
13. I met my husband online.
14. Getting pregnant with Gia was a total surprise. Nicholas was not :)
15. I love to travel. I can't wait to go back to Italy. Places on my travel "bucket list" include South Africa, Bora Bora, Ireland, Albania, and Croatia.
16. I'm totally obsessed with the tv show Scandal.
17. I love writing and I love grammar. I'm totally the grammar police.
18. I'm very visual. I think of things in terms of visuals. For example, if I'm thinking about what I need to do tomorrow, I think of my day as a long rectangle, with little blocks of time cut out for the tasks I have to complete. (Does that make sense to anyone else?) If I read something in a novel, I can usually remember what side of the page it's on and whereabouts (top, middle, bottom) on the page it is.
19. Being a mom is the best and hardest thing I've ever done. Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for these 2 little blessings and for letting me be their mom.
20. As far as earning money goes, I feel lucky to have found my true passion so early. I love teaching and enjoy going to work.
21.  I'm not religious in the typical sense of the word, but I am spiritual and consider myself close to God.
22. As I get older I'm learning to follow my intuition more and more. So far, it hasn't let me down.
23.  Overly sarcastic people get on my nerves. It feels to me like it's just a way to mask being mean.
24. I'm a 'glass half full' person 99% of the time.
25. I love to read.
